2019 marked the twenty-fifth anniversary of " SXM ," a milestone in Italian rap history that catapulted the Sangue Misto group into legend. To mark the significant anniversary of this iconic album, 5tate of Mind has joined forces with Sangue Misto to create a capsule collection celebrating one of the projects that shaped the Italian rap game.
" SXM " is indeed an album that changed the way the genre was approached in Italy, so avant-garde—both lyrically and musically—that it remains frighteningly relevant even today, proving it hasn't aged a bit, despite its recent quarter-century. Suffice it to say that Rolling Stone ranked it twenty-fifth on its list of the 100 greatest Italian albums of all time. Tracks like "Lo straniero," "La porra," and "Cani sciolti" still resonate loudly in the headphones and sound systems of countless fans, who continue to pass on this fundamentally important work.
To pay homage to " SXM ," 5tate of Mind has created a collection featuring clothing pieces whose iconicity has remained intact since the '90s, just like the album they're associated with. The capsule collection includes a hoodie, a baseball cap, and a canvas workwear jacket. The jacket and sweatshirt feature all-over embroidery, while the hat is based on the original '94 model, with the historic two-dog-head logo.
The designer behind the collection and all the communication is Deemo, the artist who curated the graphic design of the original " SXM " print, as well as a pioneer of the Italian rap scene and art director with a vast portfolio and strong ties to the world of hip hop.
The 5tate Of Mind x SXM capsule collection will be available from March 9, 2020
