Origins of streetwear:

Streetwear has its roots in the youth culture and urban subcultures of the 1970s and 1980s in the United States. It originally emerged as a rebellious and alternative response to traditional and formal fashion: the main influences come from skateboarding , rap and hip hop culture, and the urban environment in general, especially on the East Coast (New York) and West Coast (California).

Streetwear began to gain popularity thanks to skaters who were looking for durable and comfortable clothing for their activities: varsity jackets and bomber jackets, baggy t-shirts , cargo pants and hoodies became part of their lifestyle and a way to express their identity.

At the same time, hip hop culture was gaining traction, bringing with it a unique and bold style. Hip hop artists contributed to the spread of streetwear by wearing flat-brimmed hats, designer sneakers, and oversized dresses with graphic prints .

In the years that followed, streetwear continued to evolve and incorporate influences from various subcultures and artistic movements. It embraced individuality, creativity, and a no-holds-barred approach to fashion , offering a platform for personal expression and originality.

Today, streetwear has become a global fashion phenomenon, with a wide range of brands and designers creating collections inspired by this style.
